MY ROLLER COASTER ONLINE CLASS

Hello, my name is Muhammad Ilyas Zainul Furqon, usually called Ilyas. I am from Karanganyar Village, Dawuan District, Majalengka Regency, West Java Province. I am studying Chemistry at Jenderal Sudirman University batch 2020. I will tell you a little about my experience during online lectures. Since the first time I was accepted as a new student at Jenderal Sudirman University, I felt very happy. Then after being accepted I took part in the Soedirman Student Summit (S3) or commonly known as the university's ospek, after that I took part in the PKKMB Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, followed by a Laboratory event, and finally the Element in Periodic (EPIC) event or commonly known as Makrab Department of Chemistry where everything is done online. Actually, I feel envious of the previous generation who can feel the acceptance of new students offline while I can't feel it all.

Over time, I can finally enjoy the lecture bench even though it's online too. The first day of online college was happy because I had new friends, new atmosphere. Then it's getting harder and harder every day because the tasks are piling up. In addition, because I major in chemistry, there is such a thing as a practicum in the laboratory because it is online, so I only saw the practicum video, I couldn't feel the practical work directly in the laboratory, which made me not understand, if I didn't try it directly, it would be added if we already did practicum have to make a practicum report, when I want to make a practicum report I feel confused because this is the first time making a practicum report so it makes me confused what to write in the practicum report.

In addition to college, my busy life is participating in organizations and several committees on campus, which by joining an organization can at least relieve my tiredness during online lectures ‎because by being organized I can meet many friends, discuss lectures also, yes, even though I'm busy increase but I'm happy to do it. The first organization I joined was the Chemistry Student Association (HIMAKIM), I was at Himakim as a staff of the research and development division of the organization. Then the second organization that I joined was Information Technology Communication (ITC), I was at ITC as a staff of the information division. In addition to the organization, I also participate in several committees. The first committee I joined was that I became the Element in Periodic (EPIC) committee 2021 as the coordinator of the Public Relations division, then the second committee that I joined is the 2021 Technology Seminar (SEMTEK) committee as a staff of the Publications, Decorations and Documentation division, and the last committee that I joined the committee for the 15th ITC UKM Anniversary as a Publications, Decorations and Documentation division staff.

Maybe that's a glimpse of my experience during online lectures. The point is that during this online lecture there are positives and negatives. In my opinion, from the positive side, we don't need to spend a lot of money to pay for boarding houses, fees to campus because we study at home, and also when we take exams we can open books. If the negative side may be for myself, I don't really understand the explanation of the material from the Lecturer. Then during the practicum, if you only watch the practicum video, it seems less effective and difficult to understand, moreover we have to make a practicum report. The hope is that the lectures can return to normal as before, so that I and all of us, especially the batch ‎‎2020, can feel how the campus atmosphere is.
